Here you will find information on things to consider before leaving your caravan / motorhome for winter storage.
Water systems
Water systems must be drained to prevent pipes and fittings from freezing. This also applies if the vehicle is in a heated space as the power can go out and the premises cool down.
1. empty fresh water and waste water tanks
2. Set the taps to the open middle position between hot and cold, otherwise they may freeze. Freezing damage is not covered by the warranty.
3. Blow with your mouth "backwards" into the water tap to empty the hoses.
4. Empty the water heater, see the instruction manual for emptying your model.
5. Lay the shower hose down so that any water in the hose runs out.
6. Open the taps completely.
7. Empty the toilet completely and rinse it out.
Batteries
The batteries should be checked. Check the charge status and water level.
The negative pole of the engine battery should be disconnected as there is always some consumption if it is connected.
In the case of the living area battery, the main switch should be turned off so that all consumption is switched off. If there is no switch, one of the battery terminals is removed from the living area battery.
We recommend removing the batteries and charging them for maintenance.
Refrigerator
Clean out the refrigerator and leave the door ajar.
Glycol
Check the freezing point of the caravan/vehicle. If necessary, top up with a mixture of 50% glycol and 50% water.
It is important that before doing this, you check what type of antifreeze is already in the system. You cannot mix different liquids just like that.
Tires
Pump extra air into the tires when the vehicle will be parked for a long time. With today's modern tires, this is enough.
