Why you should change glycol
Keep your heating system in top condition
Alde Heating System is a water-based system.
This means that a mixture of glycol and water is heated in a boiler and then circulated in a pipe system that emits the heat via convectors, underfloor heating, towel warmers, etc.
Glycol not only prevents frost damage but also has a caring and protective effect on the system.
The properties of the glycol fluid deteriorate over time and therefore the fluid should be changed every two years.
The replacement intervals can be extended depending on the quality of the glycol fluid.
If you use Alde Premium Glycol G12 EVO, the replacement interval can be extended to every five years during normal operation.
The function of the glycol fluid:
- Freeze protection down to -37 ˚C.
- Corrosion protection.
- Inhibitors form a protective film on the inside of the system.
- Prevents bacterial growth.
- Lubricating effect on circulation pumps.
When you have changed the glycol fluid, you know that your heating system contains the correct mixture of glycol and water and that the risk of frost and corrosion damage and bacterial growth is minimized.
What can happen if you do not change the glycol fluid?
Foreign substances can enter the heating system and cause the glycol fluid to become aggressive, which can damage the heating system.
Old glycol fluid can start to smell bad.
